A little late however we still wanted to share our initiative for the month of November, which is also the month in which Tamils observe Maaveerar Naal or Tamil Remembrance Day.

This month we have partnered with the Canadian Tamils' Humanitarian Association - a non-profit which supports disadvantaged rural communities in Eastern and Nothern Sri-Lanka with the help of charitable donations from the community. Due to the devastating effects of the decades long civil war and continued discrimination against Tamils, many Tamil families have been left in poverty and in dire need of basic necessities. @cthacanada works to empower Tamil lives and their communities by providing them resources and on-going support where needed.

To date, the CTHA has funded a multitude of projects including a clothing drive for Batticaloa, financially supporting girls schools, the Dharisanam School for a Visually Impaired as well as the Ozanam Home for Special Needs Children, and more. Perhaps CTHA's most ambitious project is their Adopt-A-Village project in which the rural village of Pavatkodichchenai received access to clean water, toilet facilities, a poultry farm, and a community centre which houses a preschool, medical centre, and vocational training room for women. More recently CTHA initiated a Home Garden Project in the rural village of Kathiraveli in response to Covid. This gave 100 families in need the resources to grow and cultivate their own food. A second garden project provided plants seedlings, seeds, and watering cans to 100 families in Pavatkodichchenai.

CTHA has now identified families which would benefit from chickens, a chicken coop, and plants for their home garden and we at, Devi Wellness Company are happy to assist with their newest project. Thus a portion of our sales from this month will go towards providing up to four families with chickens, a chicken coop, and plants for a home garden.
